What is the Bounce Rate?

What is the Bounce Rate? – I just recently discovered that this is actually a debated issue…. Too wild. Sometimes people like to overcomplicate everything….and where web technology is concerned…isn’t there enough that is complicated and complex that we don’t need to add to this issue??

Anyway….the bounce rate is a very simple thing that should be left out of the debate rooms…

When a visitor clicks on a link to your website and then clicks right off because it was not where they wanted to be, they didn’t like the look of your site, they realized quickly that they didn’t find the information they needed, or they were just going there for contact info, got it and jumped right back off, etc…  These visitors are considered to be bouncing off your site.

This is a part of the analytical data that is used to determine if a website is targeting the right key phrases to reach the audience that would be most interested in what they have to offer or most likely to become a customer, etc.

If your bounce rate is too high, then you are not having enough of an effect on the audience you are reaching online….unless of course, your phones are ringing off the hook and all those bouncers are just hitting your site up for the contact info…  But one way to keep the bounce rate low and still give people your contact information is to put the contact info in the html description tag. Let them see how to contact you without even having to click on your link.

Remembering that the point of having a website is to generate additional leads and gain exposure online, as well as increase your business credibility should assist you in simplifying the entire process a bit.
